I might. I've never had a pet of my own before though, so I'm not certain I'm suited to caring for it. [ She lifts her little shih tzu... Potato. ] My family tends to either be allergic to animals or dislike them, though I've been with a few relatives who kept those incredibly fluffy cats and breeds like Saint Bernards...

Taking care of a pet is a lot of responsibility, but they still tend to be easier than you'd think. I would probably suggest an older dog for a first timer though... Puppies need all kinds of training.

Though if you're keen on Potato anyway, it's not... as difficult as it sounds to train a puppy. I'm sure the shelter would help you too, if you asked. It's really a lot of positive reinforcement and discipline, which I don't think you'd have too much of an issue with.

Taking a bite out of crime and all that, yes. They make for excellent running partners as well... though I've never actually had one myself. My aunt's allergic to dander and my current residence doesn't allow pets.

I wouldn't mind coming over in the mornings to help out, though it'll be easier once we have our own place. I know someone who's going into veterinary sciences as well, so perhaps she'd be a good choice to petsit during your longer hours.
