Planetarium or museums are probably a good idea, too, since he's smart and probably likes learning stuff and we can stop at each little exhibit and I can just listen to him talk about it and tell me why it's important and I can smile and nod and hope that maybe he'll smile and nod too because I like it when he smiles...

Only because I went through the same thing as you. Really, listening to you talk about this guy just reminds me of how much I talked about the guy I liked to my friends... They gave me good advice that I often ended up ignoring due to my own self-doubt.

It's never as bad as you make it out to be. As long as you try, your feelings will be noticed, though obviously I can't guarantee it'll work out into a relationship; I didn't think mine would, as stupid as it is in hindsight, but I was happier just knowing that he knew and was alright with me liking him.

How long did you like him before you started going out?

It'd be my pleasure! I adore talking about him, really... I'm sure it's annoying.

Let's see... It was only recently we started to go out, but I liked him since the first moment I saw him, though admittedly for appearances only. I thought he was cute, so I started to frequent the cafe he worked at. I grew to like much more about him though, his smile and his laugh and how genuine his interest in my trivial cases was... I think it's been over half a year since then? At least that, though maybe longer.

Wait wait, what do you mean trivial cases?

Something like that. I'm not officiated or anything like that, but I do enjoy solving mysteries and am partnered with a young woman who has an agency set up for those who are uncomfortable or can't go to the police for things.

For example, things dealing with Retrospec. We handle those.

I usually take care of local things though, missing pets and items and settling disturbances. It's a little dangerous at times... but I enjoy it, and my boyfriend would often create small mysteries for me to solve himself, down to secret letters and aliases from "anonymous" tips. I didn't realize it was him at first, but it wasn't hard to deduce.

[They all came to the same cafe, after all. And he could never track them down any other way...]

... I think movies are a good idea, still, but certainly the museums and planetarium would be the best idea for him! Books as well. In fact, a bookstore would be a wonderful idea for a date! You both can pick out things you like and read them together, it's a quiet sort of atmosphere that doesn't pressure for conversation, but allows for some if you'd like.

books it is!! Maybe next time we talk I'll ask him to tell me about some of his favorite books and i can suggest that maybe we go book shopping together and he can point out some nice ones and we can sit and read and then talk about what we read....
